Erna Hennicot-Schoepges

Erna Hennicot -Schoepges ( born July 24, 1941 in Dudelingen ) is a Luxembourg pianist and politician.

Life

After her schooling Hennicot -Schoepges studied musicology, literature and philosophy. It was high school teacher of Music in Luxembourg. Later, she hosted a radio show at Radio Luxembourg.

From 1989 to 1995, Hennicot -Schoepges President of the Chamber of Deputies ( Chambre des députés ). It was followed by the President of Parliament Jean Spautz.

Hennicot -Schoepges was from 1995 to 2003 leader of the Christian Social People's Party. Her successor was François Biltgen.

In the government's Juncker - Poos she was from January 1995 to 1999, Minister of Education, Minister of Culture and Minister of Education. In the subsequent government Juncker Polfer it was between 1999 and 2004 Minister of Culture, Minister for Higher Education and Research and Minister of Public Works. In addition, it was during the two mandates delegated Minister for the Francophonie.

From 2004 to 2009 she was a member of the European Parliament.
