Ernest Leopold, Landgrave of Hesse-Rotenburg
Ernst Leopold II of Hesse- Rotenburg ( born June 15, 1684 Langenschwalbach, † November 29, 1749 in Rotenburg an der Fulda ) was Landgrave of Hesse -Rotenburg. He was the eldest son of William I the Elder of Hesse- Rhine rock -Rotenburg (1648-1725) and his wife Anna Marie, née Countess of Löwenstein -Wertheim -Rochefort ( 1652-1688 ).
Life
Ernst Leopold II in 1725 followed his father as Regent of the Rotenburg Rotenburg half quart. In the first half Wanfrieder ruled his cousin William of Hesse - Wanfried, after his death in 1731 his step-brother Christian of Hesse- Wanfried. During his tenure, Ernst Leopold was the hunting lodge Blumenstein ( Wildeck ) build. 1739 approved a Jewish school and a cemetery, which was the basis of a well-known Jewish community in Hesse Rotenburg later. During his tenure, the Court conducted less hassle with Hesse-Kassel and the Quart cities, but carefully straightened the fourth administration.
Family
Ernst Leopold was married to Eleonore Maria Anna of Löwenstein -Wertheim since 1704. They had four sons and six daughters:
- Joseph (1705-1744) ∞ 1726 Princess Christine of Salm- Neufville ( 1707-1775 ); he was father in law of the French marshal Charles de Rohan, prince de Soubise
- Polyxena Christina Johannetta (1706-1735) ∞ 1724 King Charles Emmanuel III. of Sardinia - Piedmont

- Sophie (1709-1711)
- Franz Alexander (1710-1739), killed at the Battle of Grocka
