Ernesto Nazareth

Ernesto Júlio Nazareth ( born March 20, 1863 in Rio de Janeiro, † February 4, 1934 in Jacarepaguá, Rio de Janeiro) was a Brazilian composer and pianist.

He was particularly known for his Brazilian Tangos ( Tangos brasileiros ). Heitor Villa -Lobos called him " the true embodiment of the Brazilian soul."

Ernesto Nazareth 88 tangos, waltzes 41 and 28 polkas written next to it nor individual compositions from other genres - a total of 212 compositions, almost all for the piano.

Among his most famous pieces include the Choro Apanhei - te, cavaquinho! ( I've got you, cavaquinho ). It is a tribute to the cavaquinho, a stringed instrument that was used in the choro orchestras in Brazil. Other well-known pieces of it are the maxixe Odeon and the dances Brejeiro and Dengozo.
