Erni Maissen

Club career

Erni Maissen grew up in Reinach and began his football career with the juniors of FC Reinach. In 1975 he moved to FC Basel and played as a midfielder alongside players like Stohler, Gaisser, Ramseier and Fischli. With the FCB he was two times Swiss champion, 1977 and 1980.

In the summer of 1982 Maissen moved to FC Zurich. His championship debut for Zurich he was on 14 August 1982 at the 5:1 home win against FC Lucerne and his first goal for the FCZ he scored in the 2-2 draw away at BSC Young Boys on August 14. Maissen remained only one year in the FCZ and returned in July 1983 back to the FCB. When the FCB in 1987 descended into the National League B, Maissen joined the Young Boys Bern. After only two years, he moved back to the FCB and finished his career there in 1991.

National

Erni Maissen made ​​his debut in the Swiss national team on 26 March in 1980 with a 2-0 home win against the of Czechoslovakia in Basel. His 29th and last game was the 1-0 away defeat in Kaiserslautern against West Germany on 27 April 1988.
