Ernie Collett (ice hockey)

John Ernest " Ernie " Collett ( born March 3, 1895 in Toronto, Ontario, † December 21, 1951 ) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player. At the Olympic Winter Games in 1924 he won the gold medal as a member of the Canadian national team.

Career

Ernie Collett spent his entire career as a hockey player in his hometown, where he played for numerous amateur teams. From 1915 to 1917 he played for the Toronto Riverside Hockey Club in the season 1917/18 for the Toronto Crescents, in the season 1919/20, for the Toronto Newman Hall, and then a year for Toronto Parkdale. From 1921 to 1923 he took up for the Toronto Granites, with whom he 1922 and 1923 respectively to the Allan Cup, the Canadian amateur championship titles won. With the Granites in 1924, he represented Canada at the Olympic Winter Games. In 1924 he was the first standard-bearer of Canada at the Winter Olympics.

Internationally

For Canada Collett participated in the Olympic Winter Games in 1924 in part in Chamonix, where he won the gold medal with his team.
