Ernst Reissner

Ernst Reissner, gel Reissner (born 12 Septemberjul / September 24 1824greg in Riga, .. .. † 4 Septemberjul / September 16 1878greg to lock Ruhenthal in Kurland ) was a Baltic German physician and anatomist.

Work

Reissner completed his studies in 1851 at the University of Tartu (then Dorpat ) from. Later, he taught as a professor of anatomy at first several years before he retired in 1875 for health reasons. He sought rest in the country, but died three years later.

Ernst tear former main areas of work were the ear and the development of hair. He was primarily known for his anatomical work on the ear. Through his work, including also on embryos of birds and cattle, a pioneering insights have been gained. So he could, inter alia, to create an accurate representation of the cochlea for the first time. To him, the Reissner membrane was named after him in honor.
