Ernst Seifert

Ernst Hubert Seifert ( born May 9, 1855 in Sülzfeld, Circle Meiningen, † April 27, 1928 in Cologne ) was a German organ builder and founder of the organ builder Seifert.

Life

The son of a Thuringian forester learned the trade of organ builder at Jahn in Dresden. Its importance to the organ building of the 19th century, he became known for the invention of the membrane charge.

In 1885 he made in Cologne -Mansfeld with its own organ workshop independently and founded in 1906 on the occasion of organ building in the local St. Mary's Church a branch in Kevelaer. His brothers Gotthard and Eberhard were at times also active in his workshop, and later his sons Ernst Jr., Walter and Romanus Seifert, which he gave in 1914 Kevelaerer branch operation. The Cologne plant was abandoned in 1981, so that Kevelaer is the seat of the company under the name of organ building Romanus Seifert & Sohn GmbH & Co. today.
