Ernst Sprockhoff

Sprockhoff Ernst ( born August 6, 1892 in Berlin, † October 1, 1967 in Kiel ) was a German prehistorians.

Life

Sprockhoff was first a teacher and studied history next to it. Since 1922 Sprockhoff was a member of the Imperial German for German history. He received his doctorate in 1924 at the University of Königsberg. From 1926 to 1928 he worked at the Provincial Museum in Hanover, 1928-1935 at the Roman-Germanic Central Museum Mainz.

From 1931 was a corresponding and from 1934 a full member of the German Archaeological Institute. Sprockhoff was a member of the Stahlhelm and belonged before 1933 to the year of the "seizure of power " of the Nazis, the SA. In 1933 he was a member of the National Socialist Teachers' Association, 1937, after loosening the record lock, also a member of the NSDAP. From 1935 to 1945 he was the first Director of the Roman-Germanic Commission in Frankfurt am Main and from 1947 Professor of Prehistory and Early History at the University of Kiel.
