Ernst von Mengersdorf
Ernst von Menger village († October 21, 1591 ) was from 1583 until his death in 1591 Prince-Bishop of Prince-Bishopric of Bamberg.
Biographical information
Ernst von Menger village comes from the rich Frankish noble family of the free Menger village from the small village of Menger village that is part of the municipality in the district of Bayreuth Mistelgau in Upper Franconia today.
Owner of the residence castle Geyerswörth
As a bishop he was 46 the builder of the residential palace Geyerswörthstraße. After the conversion, in the style of the Renaissance, including the old building, the building served as the town residence of the prince bishops and was well until the end of construction of the new residence headquarters of the ruling bishops. Later the castle was largely as an administrative building use. After the collapse of the two Renaissance gable on the north side in the 1740s, the castle took on its current appearance.
Founder of the Collegium Ernestinum
The Kaiser- Heinrich -Gymnasium was founded on 23 June 1586 by him as Collegium Ernestinum. It was a seminary with high school, which was all striving for education " youths " accessible (see also Ottonianum and seminary Bamberg).
This school was in the 1586 abandoned Carmelite monastery; the Carmelite Order took over the buildings of the Benedictine monastery of St. Mary et Theodor on Kaulberg where the Order is back since 1902.

Grave monument in Michael Bergkloster
His grave monument is located since the style restoration of the cathedral of Bamberg in St. Michael's Church. There is to be found in the left aisle of the church (see also Michel monastery mountain).
