ERYX

The Eryx is an anti-tank missile from French production. Another term is' short-range infantry missiles ". The system was introduced in the French Armed Forces in 1993.

The ground -to-ground anti-tank system Eryx is a wire- steered, portable missile system short-range anti-tank. Eryx was designed for the urban battlefield. It can be fired from enclosed spaces. It is designed for distances between 50 and 600 meters and can almost not be disturbed by electronic countermeasures. The missile flight time to a distance of 600 m is 4.3 seconds. The warhead consists of a tandem shaped charge and has a penetration capacity of 900 mm RHA.

Due to its compact design and its ease of use Eryx is primarily used in infantry units, especially the rapid reaction forces and SWAT teams. The thermal imaging device allows MIRABEL use at night and in bad weather to the full operational distance of 600 m.

Dissemination

Eryx comes in six nations used since 1993. To date, according to the manufacturer EADS 1600 launch systems and 50,000 missiles were sold.
