Geography

Location

Mountain Ash is about 2 km east of the city center of Saarbrücken. Getting to the University and to Dudweiler in the north there are 2 or 4 km. After Scheidt in the north- east it's on the main road 40, the Mountain Ash in the east and south, enclosing about 2 km and Bischmisheim in the Southeast and St. Arnual in the southwest there are each 1.5 km.

Geology

The mountain ash is mainly composed of finer sand stone, as you can still see traces of it in the woods. On the south of the mountain ash, however, instead of sandstone limestone and rock is present.

Waters

Traffic

The main roads of the mountain ash are of Silesia ring, Breslauer Straße, the Mecklenburg ring Eschbergerweg and Pommernring. The bus lines 107, 105, 139, 164 and 842 drive the district. Rail transport plays only a minor role, as the railways have been almost completely dismantled since 1970. Nearby railway stations are the Saarbrücken Ost train station and the breakpoint Schafbrücke. A freight line led to 1976 at a factory site on Eschbergerweg.
