The esino ( ancient name: Aesis ) is a 80 km long river in the Marche region of Italy. On his way to the Adriatic Sea of esino flows through the provinces of Ancona and Macerata. The source area is located at 1 116 m -high Monte Cafaggio. After a few kilometers of the esino flows through the city Matelica at an altitude of 350 m above sea level. Having traversed by the Gola della Rossa National Park Parco Regionale della Rossa Frassassi, he reached the coast of the upstream level to Jesi and Chiaravalle, before flowing into the sea at Falconara.
The river gives its name to the wine region esino. In addition, on the slopes of the river grow the famous wines Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi and Verdicchio di Matelica.
