Eskimo is an Austrian ice cream brand of the Unilever Group

History

Eskimo was founded in 1927 as a trademark for an ice cream shop of the Austrian MIAG, later sold to the Austrian Unilever AG. In 1962, the frozen food production by Hans Petter Raasdorf, near Vienna, accepted. In 1965 the relocation of production to the common first combined ice cream & frozen food production in Grossenzersdorf for " Eskimo" and - probably called for the first time as - " Igloo ".

In 1970 the merger of the Unilever subsidiary Eskimo ice / Petter Iglo TKK with Nestlé subsidiary Jopa ice / Findus TKK Eskimo -Iglo GmbH ( 75% Unilever, Nestlé 25%). While the ice production was discontinued in 1998, the brand name "Eskimo" for the ice cream remained, which has since, continue to be sold under Eskimo, is imported from Germany. Brand names in other countries

The ice cream of the Unilever ice cream line to be sold due to the high level of recognition under the name by which it was known the range before the takeover. However, the company logo, which is known as the " Heart of fire " is the same in all countries.

Although the Russian company Inmarko was also acquired by Unilever, but the logo is not fit to. The product range is similar in many parts of the Eskimo, but they are added to traditional Russian products.
