The Estadio Centenario de Armenia ( German stadium of the one hundredth anniversary of Armenia ) is a football stadium in the Colombian city of Armenia in the department of Quindio. It is nicknamed " El jardin de América " (engl.: "The Garden of America "). The home of football club Deportes Quindio currently offers 29,000 seats. It replaced the Estadio de San José.

History

At the opening of the stadium played on 30 March 1988 Colombia against Canada (3-0). A year later, in February, a football tournament between the teams of the U19 team from Colombia, Chile, Peru, and was held to mark the 100th anniversary of the city. Four of the six games were played at the Centenario de Armenia and Colombia won the tournament after three wins. The main as well as the opposite stand of the stadium are covered and it has an athletics track. On 25 January 1999 an earthquake of magnitude 7.2 on the Richter scale shook the city. After that, the system had to be renovated. The old Estadio de San José was destroyed in the quake and later demolished. 2010 you opened the San José after a rebuild again.

For the U-20 World Cup 2011 venue is renovated. There are plans for new roofing of the East and the West Stand, new changing rooms for players and referees and a car park are to be built. For the renovation of approximately 8.7 billion Colombian pesos are provided. By adjusting the stadium to FIFA regulations, the capacity is expected to fall to 25,138 seats.
