South American Youth Championship

The U-20 Football Championship South America (Spanish: Campeonato Sudamericano Sub-20 ), and Juventud de America, is a football competition between national teams in South America for male soccer players under 20. It is the oldest junior tournament has been held since 1954, but initially took place only at irregular intervals. Since the introduction of the U-20 World Cup in 1977, it also serves as a qualifier for the Junior (U -20 ) Football World Cup, which will qualify the four best-placed teams. Since then, the tournament takes place every two years. Since 2007, the tournament every four years, also serves as a qualifying tournament for the Olympic football tournament of the men. Here, the top two teams, then as with three older players added U-23 selections participate in the Olympic Games qualify.

As with the other South American Kontintalturnieren there is no qualification.
