The Estadio de Bata is a football stadium with track and field facility in Bata in the western province of Litoral in Equatorial Guinea. It is the largest stadium in the African country.

History

The stadium was completed with 22,000 seats in 2007. A year later it was one of two venues for the African Cup of Women 2008. In 2012, Equatorial Guinea is the first time the venue, along with neighboring Gabon, the African Cup of Nations. For the tournament, the sports facility was expanded to 35,700 seats. It is the venue for the opening ceremony and eight matches including the opening match and a semifinal. The renovated stadium celebrated its inauguration on January 6, 2012. On this occasion, met the national teams of Equatorial Guinea and South Africa each other. The match ended in a 0-0 draw. The President of Equatorial Guinea Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo led here from the offense.

The venue formerly with a revolving stand rank was placed a top rank. The two roof sections on the main and opposite stand gave way to a complete roofing of the ranks. The four floodlight towers were replaced by a system which is integrated into the roof. The stands are equipped with red and blue plastic seats. The previously undisguised exterior of the sports facility was covered with a metallic facade. To the stadium include, inter alia, more fitness rooms, an indoor pool and a hotel.
