The Estádio de Barros Carvalho Eládio is a football stadium in the Brazilian city of Recife. It can accommodate 19,800 spectators and serves the club Náutico Capibaribe as homestead.

History

The Estádio de Barros Carvalho Eládio in the Brazilian city of Recife, with just over a million inhabitants, the capital and largest city of the northeastern Brazilian state of Pernambuco, was built in 1939 and still opened in the same year. On 25 June 1939, the future users of the club sports venue, the Club Náutico Capibaribe and local rivals Sport Recife met for a friendly match, which ended with a 5-2 for Náutico. During this opening game of Náutico player Wilson scored the first goal in the new stadium. Since 1939 Náutico Capibaribe uses the Estádio de Barros Carvalho Eládio as the venue for home games in football. Nowadays the Estádio de Barros Carvalho Eládio can accommodate 19,800 spectators. The record crowd in the stadium was erected, as at July 21, 1968 Náutico Capibaribe and Sport Recife clashed and 31,065 people wanted to watch the 1-0 victory of Náutico.
