The Estádio dos Barreiros is a football stadium in Funchal, Portugal. In the stadium, the Portuguese first division club Maritimo Funchal plays its home games. Although it originally had a higher capacity than most stadiums, only 9,177 spectators had Estádio dos Barreiros in place before the conversion. It is nicknamed O Calderão ( German The boiler ).
Since July 20, 2009, the stadium is undergoing extensive modernization and transformed into a pure football stadium without a track and field facility. The new stadium with all round roofed grandstands to accommodate 10,000 spectators. With the completion of the work is expected to be implemented for 2015.
