The Estádio Moisés Lucarelli is a football stadium in the Brazilian city of Campinas. It can accommodate 19 722 spectators and is the club AA Ponte Preta as homestead.

History

The Estádio Moisés Lucarelli in Campinas, a city of just over one million inhabitants, was built between 1944-1948 and opened on 12 September 1948. For the first game in the new stadium, the future users of the club venue, the Club AA Ponte Preta, and a visiting team named XV de Novembro Piracicaba met a friendly match, which ended with a 3-0 victory of the visiting team. At the time of completion of the stadium, it could seat 35,000 people. This number of audience was reduced in 2005 as part of renovation works, above all to the benefit of security in the stadium on the still valid today 19 722 spectators. It is one of the few stadiums in Brazil, which was, in this case, built by the fans of the club by the supporters of AA Ponte Preta. The stadium project was led by Lucarelli in the way. After the completion of the building Lucarelli did not initially that the stadium is named after him. But during a trip to Argentina was one of the stadium from Ponte Preta Estádio Moisés Lucarelli 's name, whereupon he had to accept the decision on his return to Brazil.

Future Plans

AA Ponte Preta is planning to build a new stadium in Campinas for the future. It should have the name Arena Ponte Preta and can accommodate about 30,000 people. When the construction is scheduled to start at the new stadium project, is not yet known.
