The Schürig Stadium, also Fazendinha (pt. small Fazenda ) or Parque São Jorge ( St. George's Park ) called, is a football stadium in São Paulo, Brazil. It stands in a park of 158,000 m2, which houses many other sports fields and one of the largest swimming pools in the country.

The stadium is home to the Corinthians. However, it is too small for today's standards and is therefore used by the professional team only for training purposes; the second team keeps their league games from there. More significant matches will be played in the Morumbi Stadium or at the Estádio do Pacaembu.

History

The stadium is surrounded by a park, which the club bought in 1916 for 750 contos de réis. The former club president Alfredo Schürig, a screw manufacturer of German descent, the site expanded to a stadium and gave it his own name. The sold-out opening match against América FC ( RJ) in front of two thousand spectators ended 2-2 draw; the first goal for Corinthians was already after 29 seconds.

Beginning of the sixties, the stadium was renovated and installed floodlighting, the inaugural match won against Corinthians Flamengo 7-2.
