Estonian Internal Security Service

Kaitsepolitsei ( Kapo, actually Kaitsepolitseiamet, German: Security Police ( amt ) ) is the Estonian Ministry of the Interior, subordinate office. The tasks of the Kapo include the protection of the constitutional order, the fight against terrorism and against corruption, the protection of state secrets and intelligence activities. The Director General of Kapo is Raivo Aeg.

History

In the summer of 1919, the government appointed the Republic of Estonia together a commission to design a project to design a device to combat crimes against the state order. The planned initially under the leadership of the Ministry of Security Police Court was asked in January 1920 under the leadership of the Ministry of Interior.

The legal framework was the Security Police Regulation adopted by the Government on 12 April 1920. Accordingly, the object of the Kapo was the fight against crime, which led to the overthrow of the democratic order or the state. The overall management of the Kaitsepolitsei were under eleven regional offices.
