Estopa
Estopa is a Spanish music group.
Estopa was formed by the two Spanish brothers Muñoz Calvo, David ( born 10 January 1976) and José Manuel ( born November 19, 1978). You were born in Cornella de Llobregat, near Barcelona and raised, have worked for several years at a supplier of Seat (Novel Lahnwerk ) on the assembly line and were surprised by a rather randomly occurring success. A friend had a demo song on the record label BMG passed that showed up then promptly interested.
From their first album Estopa, published in 1999, about 1.4 million copies were sold. The albums Destrangis and La calle it tuya? ( " Is the road you?" ). In November 2005, following her fourth album Voces de Ultra Rumba, whose name is a pun, which was derived from " Voces de Ultratumba " - it means something like " voice from the underground" or " voice from another world ". In the first 2 weeks 200,000 albums were sold.
The music has a strong Spanish flair. The Rumba Rock, as it is called is perhaps somewhere between punk rock and traditional Spanish guitar music. Contrary to common opinion Estopa not sing in the Andalusian dialect but rather in a linguistically simple and lax mode of expression that comes close to the Andalusian only a few points. The texts are to be understood only with good language skills.
Also unusual is the language of Estopa. Coming from a humble background, the lyrics are very open, direct, yes, sometimes even outrageous. Their lyrics deal with concerns and needs of the common man, who reflects on his life and longs for Monday the weekend so that he can make neat Fiesta again. Estopa is the voice of the suburbs of Barcelona, the charnegos. Born and raised they are in a high-rise estate in Cornella, a 80,000 -inhabitant town on the outskirts of Barcelona. Among their supporters can be found almost every age group again. They are very popular with the Spanish speaking population of Barcelona and its autonomous region of Catalonia.
