η Ursae Minoris ( Eta Ursae Minoris, η UMi ) is a main-sequence star in the constellation of the Little Bear. He is just 100 light years away and a little more massive and bigger than the Sun. With a surface temperature of 6,400 Kelvin it belongs to the spectral class F5.

Together with the red dwarf NLTT 42620 is η Ursae Minoris a proper motion pair. The companion is of spectral type M4 and has an apparent visual magnitude of 15.1 like; its angular distance is 228 ", the position angle of 125 °.

η Ursae Minoris bears the historical proper names Anwar Al Farkadain and Alasco. The Arabic name (Arabic أنور الفرقدين, DMG Anwar al - farqadain ) means " the brighter of the two calves ", originally so that β Ursae Minoris was designated ( Kochab ), another star of the constellation. Also, the " darker of the two calves " - Alifa al Farkadain - γ Ursae Minoris was initially ( Pherkad ), then the name was transferred to ζ Ursae Minoris, which is actually brighter than the rest Anwar Al Farkadain.
