Etakkama

Aitakama or in other spellings: Aitaqama, Itakama, Itaqama, Etakkama, Etakama, Aitagama ( Hittite Ai- tag -ga- ma), son of Šutatarra, was from about 1355 BC to 1312 BC, king of Kadesh.

He was regarded initially as a staunch ally of Egypt, before he turned to an alliance with Aziru on the side of the Hittites. In the further course Aitakama turned openly against Suppiuliuma I., who then caught him by Hatti led. After Aitakama had to commit to the support of Hatti, he was reinstated by Suppiuliuma I as King in Kadesh. In the Amarna letters, he is referred to by Akhenaten as a traitor, partisans and enemies of Egypt, with which one does not sit at a table.

1312 BC he led an uprising in the 10th year of the reign Mursili II against Hatti, however, was during the siege of Kadesh by the Hittites, murdered by his son Niqmadu who then exercised the kingship.
