Éterville
Éterville is a commune with 1382 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Calvados in the Basse -Normandie. It belongs to the district of Caen and the Canton Évrecy.
Geography
The community Éterville lies two kilometers from the left bank of the Orne and about eight kilometers southwest of the center of Caen. To Éterville part of the district of Le Rocroil.
History
Éterville was fought in 1944. Shortly after landing in Normandy on D-Day (June 6, 1944) attempted the Allies that Hitler to "fortress" explained occupy city of Caen ( Battle of Caen ). As part of Operation Jupiter ( July 10 and 11 ) there were battles at or Éterville. In the night of 11 July 12 battalions took the 4th Canadian Infantry Brigade Éterville and Verson.
