Ethel Griffies
Ethel Griffies as Ethel Woods ( born April 26, 1878 in Sheffield, Yorkshire, † September 9, 1975 in London) was a British actress.
Life
Griffies was the daughter of the manager Samuel Rupert Woods and the actress Lillie Roberts. In 1899 she made her stage debut in London. In 1917, the actress has appeared in numerous films. In the 1930s and 1940s, the artist took on smaller roles in Hollywood. She played her best known role as stubborn ornithologists activist Mrs. Bundy in Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds, for which she appeared in a film after 13 years. Overall Griffies performed in over 100 film and television shows.
Griffies was married twice, his first wife until 1910, then from 1917 until his death in 1956 with the actor Edward Cooper. Until her death, she starred in London theater and was 97 years old the oldest active British actress. She died after a stroke.
