Ethiopian Catholic Eparchy of Adigrat

Set in Ethiopia Adigrat Eparchy (Latin: Eparchia Adigratensis ) is a diocese of the Ethiopian Catholic Church, which has been in union with the Roman Catholic Church.

It was taken from the Apostolic Vicariate of Abyssinia on 25 March 1937, established as Apostolic Vicariate of Tigrai. 1950, some 4,000 believers counting in parishes with eight diocesan priests, it was raised on February 20, 1961 Eparchy of Adigrat. Now the Archdiocese of Addis Ababa standing suffragan, it also scored 1970 9,848 faithful in 14 parishes with 33 diocesan priests, 3 religious priests and 34 nuns. However, until 2002 the diocese was at 17,427 faithful in 33 parishes with 74 diocesan and 11 religious priests, as well as 47 nuns, grow.
