Etienne Barbara
Etienne Barbara ( born June 10, 1982 in Pietà ) is a Maltese footballer.
Career
Malta
Etienne began his career with the youth club Qormi FC, before joining the Maltese Premier League club Floriana FC in July 1999. At this time he played mostly on defensive positions and therefore scored only eight goals in 74 games. Due to its good performance with Floriana in 2002 appointed to the national team of Malta.
On 25 January 2003, he moved on to league rivals FC Marsaxlokk, where he was a regular player at first and there was also very accurate. He scored 21 goals in 43 games.
Only two years later on the same date he joined the club and went to the Birkirkara FC and later in July 2007 on the Maltese record champions Sliema Wanderers.
Germany
For the season 2008/ 09 he moved to Germany to regional division SC Verl, where he signed a two -year contract. His debut in the Regionalliga he made on 16 August 2008 against the amateurs of Bayer 04 Leverkusen. Overall, he came up with 18 appearances in the season.
After just one season he went back to Malta and joined Hibernians Paola on, the current champions of Malta.
North America
On February 25, 2010, he moved to the Carolina RailHawks FC in the USSF D2 Pro League at that time. He scored two goals in his first game for the Hawks against AC St. Louis. In his time there, he scored 28 goals in 54 games. In the 2011 season, he received several awards, he was elected scorer in the NASL and the best player in the league.
On 25 January 2012, the Vancouver Whitecaps acquired the rights to Barbara MLS Montreal Impact.
National
Since his debut in 2004 against Israel, he previously played 30 international matches, where he has also been hit three times. He is one of the key players in the national team despite the small number of internationals.
