Étienne-Jean Delécluze

Étienne -Jean Delecluze (* 26 February 1781 in Paris, † July 12, 1863 in Versailles) was a French painter and writer.

Delecluze was informed inter alia, the painter Antoine -Jean Gros and received at an exhibition in 1808 a gold medal for his painting Andromache. He was, however, in 1816 the painting and was an art critic for the magazine Lycée français, later in the Moniteur, and then in the Journal des Débats.

Among his novels and short stories is Justine de Liron (1832 ), a small literary masterpiece. The Souvenirs de soixante années mediate inter alia Insights into the literary discussions and circle the 20s and 30s ( so to P. Mérimée and Stendhal ); they are supplemented by a partial release of the posthumous diaries Journal de Delecluze 1824-1828 (texts publié avec une Introduction et notes par of Robert Baschet, 2e Edition 1948).
