Etta Scollo

Etta Scollo ( born July 25, 1958 in Catania, Sicily) is an Italian singer. She lives in Berlin since the 1990s.

Life

After studying art and architecture in Turin ( from 1980), she broke off, and training in song and dance at the Vienna Conservatory (from 1983), she won first prize at the Diana Marina Jazz Festival. Then Etta Scollo worked with Eddie Lockjaw Davis blues musicians, Memphis Slim, Joachim Palden and Champion Jack Dupree. In 1988, she landed with an Italian cover version of the Beatles song Oh Darling a number-one hit in Austria. The following are numerous tours and performances in Austria, Germany and Switzerland.

Their path led in 1997 to Hamburg, where she met her longtime musical companions: Ferdinand von Seebach (keyboards, trombone), Joe Huth ( bass), Boris match (keyboards, cello ), Martin Druzella (drums, percussion ) and Frank Wulff ( ukulele, singing saw, hurdy-gurdy, jew's harp ).

In the project Canta Ro ' - Homage to Rosa Balistreri awakened the music of the famous folk singer of Sicily, Rosa Balistreri, to life.

Etta Scollos musical program combines Sicilian tradition, pop avant-garde and jazz influences.
