Eudoxus of Cyzicus

Eudoxus of Cyzicus was a Greek sailor in the 2nd century BC.

Eudoxus was the re-discoverer of the sea route from Egypt around the Arabian Peninsula to India. This route previously sailed in the year 508 BC Skylax, but whose knowledge was lost again. Later Eudoxus, Africa tried to circle, where he started in the Mediterranean. On this journey he came to Morocco, where his ship is lost. A bypass counterclockwise was hardly possible with the then ships because of the many cross-currents.
