Eugène Flachat

Eugène Flachat ( born April 16, 1802 in Nimes, † June 16, 1873 in Arcachon ) was a French railway engineer. As chief engineer of the railway company Paris-St. Germain, he was instrumental in the construction of the first French exclusively operated with steam locomotives railroad from Paris to Le Pecq, which was opened on 28 August 1837. This was followed by 1840-1842 another line from Paris to Rouen. Flachat was also involved in the construction of the first two railway stations in Paris, the Gare de l' Ouest - Rive droite (now the Gare Saint -Lazare ) and the Gare de l' Ouest - Rive droite, today's Gare Montparnasse.
