Eugene Nugent

Eugene Martin Nugent ( born October 21, 1958 in Gurtaderra Scariff ) is a diplomat of the Holy See.

Life

The Bishop of Killaloe, Michael Anthony Harty, ordained him a priest on July 9, 1983.

Pope Benedict XVI. appointed him on 13 February 2010 Titular Archbishop per hac vice of Domnach Sechnaill and Apostolic Nuncio of Madagascar and Apostolic Delegate to the Comoros. He received his episcopal consecration of the Cardinal Secretary of State and Cardinal Chamberlain, Tarcisio Cardinal Bertone SDB Evasio Pietro, on June 29th of the same year; Were co-consecrators Pier Giorgio Micchiardi, Bishop of Acqui, and Nestorius Timanywa, Bishop of Bukoba.

On 13 March 2010, he was also appointed to Mauritius and the Seychelles to the Apostolic Nuncio.
