Eugenijus Maldeikis

Eugenijus Maldeikis ( born August 27, 1958 in anykščiai ) is a Lithuanian politician. Maldeikis is a member of the European Parliament for the party Liberalų demokratų partija.

Biography

After graduating from high school Didždvaris Maldeikis studied economics at the M. Lomonosov State University in Moscow and received his doctorate there in 1987 as a Doctor of Social Sciences ( Economics ). He was from 1984 lecturer at Vilnius University and directed from 1990, the Department of Economic Reforms and Strategy of the Ministry of Economy. In 1992 he took over the management of the Centre for Research in Economics, he became CEO and managing director of JSC " Turto bankas " 1996. He became chairman of Deloitte & Touche Lithuania, 2004 Member of the privatization commission in 1999. Maldeikas was from 2005 also Associate Professor at Mykolas - Romer University and 2006 general director of " Balto media" Holding (from " Achemos grupė ").

Maldeikis was in 1999 and 2002, a member of the City Council in Vilnius. He belonged to since 2000 the Lithuanian Parliament ( Seimas ), before he was elected Minister of Economy of Lithuania 1999. He was also from 2003 Observer in the European Parliament and deputy member of the European Convention. Maldeikis belonged 1999-2004 Member of the Executive Board of the Lithuanian Liberal Union and was deputy chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party. Subsequently Maldeikis party affiliation.
