Euphorbia alfredii is a plant of the genus Euphorbia (Euphorbia ) in the family of Euphorbiaceae ( Euphorbiaceae ).

Description

The succulent Euphorbia alfredii is a Säuleneuphorbie. Their upright cylindrical - clavate main stem unbranched and has a diameter of up to 4 cm. The color is gray-green, with young shoots are dark green and woody later. Their crust jumps to longitudinally fissured. It is thornless and bears during the vegetation period at the end of the main shoot schopfige leaves. The ready oval leaves are glossy green and slightly hairy to hairless. They are up to 7 cm long, 3 cm wide and are short-stalked. The stipules are converted into elongated cusps.

The flowers appear before the leaves at the shoot tip. The cyathia are hanging with spreading brownish to olive cyathophylls with a weak peak.

Similar Species

Euphorbia Euphorbia is the alfredii ankarensis similar, which clearly has hairy leaves and run their cyathophylls pointed and have a blassrosane staining.

Dissemination

Euphorbia alfredii is widely endemic in northwestern Madagascar. Where it grows on limestone in dry forests.
