Euranet

Euranet is a European Radio Network, a coalition of international, national, regional and local European broadcasters to a pan-European media consortium. Euranet informed and not communicating claims to the events in Europe from national, but from a transnational perspective.

History

On 25 July 2007, 16 international, national and regional European stations closed from 13 EU states to a pan-European media consortium. It included both public and private broadcasters. Goal of the Alliance was to improve the coverage of Europe and to initiate communication via the co-existence in Europe and thus to promote the emergence of a European public sphere.

Officially, the European media consortium Euranet was presented on February 26, 2008 by Margot Wallström, the then Vice- President of the European Commission in Brussels. Margot Wallström, the Commissioner responsible for Institutional Relations and Communication Strategy, announced here that Euranet will support over a period of five years by the European Commission with a sum of 5.8 million euros financially. Despite financial assistance, the EU Commission the connected broadcasters guaranteed the full editorial independence.

German, English, French, Polish and Spanish - - In the first year of the programs Euranet in five major languages ​​as well as have been in five other languages ​​on a smaller scale - Bulgarian, Greek, Portuguese, Romanian and Hungarian - sent. Consortium

Audio formats

Euranet informed about political, economic, cultural and social events in the EU, pan-European perspective. The daily transmission time by Europeans for Europeans is between 30 and 60 minutes. The programs are broadcast at prime time and repeated several times.

Production

The affiliated radio stations provide (language of) individual program elements, such as reports, features, interviews, etc. for the individual program modules, which then flow together in European Community programs and are broadcast or repeated by the respective partners. The participating radio stations do not currently together in Europe 12 to 19 million listeners daily. These 30 million handset arrive worldwide.

Euranet University Circle

To support the development of innovative radio and Internet offer, a European " University Circle " was launched. During the project, students of journalism courses and / or foreign languages ​​have the ability to use the Euranet programs as study material. In addition, give the students of the participating universities, the program makers feedback, comments and suggestions about the Euranet broadcasts.
