Europa Cantat

European Choral Association - Europa Cantat (European Federation of Young Choirs Association ( EFJC ) ) is a 1960/1963 established the European Choral Association of singers, choirs, choral conductors, composers, member organizations and choir leaders from more than 40 European countries and thus represents more than one million members. In January 2011, the Association merged with the Union of European Choral Associations ( AGEC ), founded in 1955.

Vision

The aim of Europa Cantat is to promote cultural diversity and cultural exchanges and promote the development of new contemporary vocal music and support them. This is achieved in particular through various training opportunities both for choral conductors and singers, to which participants meet from different countries, play together and share the daily life together. A particular concern is the process of bringing together musicians from different countries and regions of Europe as well as from different cultural backgrounds, and to allow people with economic, social or other difficulties access.

Activities

The Choral Association organizes activities on different levels for choirs, young singers, choral conductors and composers from Europe and overseas as

  • The EUROPA Cantat Festival
  • Sing weeks and events on specific genres of music (from Gregorian chant to vocal pop and rap),
  • The European Academy for Young choir director,
  • The International Competition for conductors,
  • International study tours,
  • Seminars for composers and
  • As a special unit of the World Youth Choir for selected young singers ( under 27).

In addition, the European Choral Association operated - Europa Cantat in the publication of songbooks in cooperation with publishers and the organization of composition competitions. Appears as a club journal for members of the European Choral magazine - magazine about the choral life in Europe.
