Europa-Institut

The Europa-Institut Saarbrücken is an institute of the University of Saarland and offers a graduate program leading to a Master of European Law ( LL.M ). The training focuses on European and International Law. Offered are five modules - Module 1: European Integration / European Integration and the modules 2-5 with their focus areas European Economic Law / European Economic Law, Foreign Trade and Investment Law / Foreign Trade and Investment, International Dispute Resolution and European human rights protection / European Protection of Human Rights.

History

Even before the signing of the Treaty of Rome, the Institute was founded in 1951 at the University of Saarland. It should be " crown and symbol of the entire university ." The Europa -Institut was the second of its kind in Europe and has accompanied the process of European integration since its inception. EVER e.V.

From current and former students of European Studies Section of Law at the University of Saarland, 1996, the Alumni Association was founded EVER. The aim of the Alumni Association is to carry a variety of activities

  • To promote the establishment of a network of graduates of the Europa-Institut,
  • To ensure the exchange of information even after the completion of the postgraduate course
  • Maintain contacts with the students at the Europa Institute and
  • To support the education program of the European Institute.

Furthermore leads EVER specialists and national borders -border students and alumni of the European Institute from different nations together and provides a point of contact to help outside of the study program worldwide to international understanding.

The European Documentation Centre

Since 1972, the European Institute is one of 50 European Documentation Centres in Germany, which are integrated into a global network of 600 EDCs. The aim of the EDCs is to make information about the European Union and its policies to the public within and outside the university accessible to and support research and teaching on the subject of " European integration". So such are all made ​​available official publications of the European Union ( EU Official Journal, documents of the Commission, the ECJ case law ) but also collected magazines, brochures and information materials and the access to multiple databases of the EU and an increasingly growing number of electronic documents offered.

The publications

Since 1998, the Institute publishes the " Journal of European Legal Studies" ( ZEuS ). It is published quarterly and dedicated to all the current problems of European integration, European law and international law and puts an emphasis on the European media law, the European human rights protection and the European and International Business Law. With English, German, French and Spanish contributions to current developments ZEuS provides a forum for academics and practitioners. To have their say even younger scientists and students whose considerations are worth of being introduced to a wider audience.
