The Europarl is the official internet television channel of the European Parliament.

The goal of the transmitter is to bring the activities of the European Parliament closer to the citizens and to make its work transparent and understandable, not least in view of the European elections of 2009. Moreover, to be addressed and interested through the medium of the Internet specifically young people. The program - offered in 23 languages ​​, which is a global feature - partly as a voice-over, some with subtitles.

Operation

The send operation was launched on 17 September 2008 by European Parliament President Hans -Gert Poettering. By building the web platform, the British company TwoFour Digital was commissioned for the content of the Brussels-based company Show is responsible. The station will be financed from the budget of the European Parliament, the costs are estimated at nine million euros annually.

  • Parliament Live provides continuous coverage of live events in the Parliament, in particular plenary sessions, with a link to the audiovisual archives of previous sessions and the work of the committees in the coming months. The live webcast will be available only in wmv format, and is therefore only available on Windows and MacOS but not available under Linux.
