European Association of History Educators

EUROCLIO, the European Association of History Teachers ' Associations ( European Association of History Educators ) is a consortium of 77 organizations from 49 countries (2011, not all of Europe). As an umbrella organization he has set itself the goal of improving the historical education with innovative methods in Europe and thus to contribute to the consolidation of democracy. Be emphasized multiple perspectives, critical thinking, mutual respect, and the inclusion of controversial topics in the curricula. The establishment and maintenance of international contacts and discussions between various religions and denominations case has a central importance. A current project is the design of the website Historiana with multiperspektivischem material on many topics of history.

The umbrella organization was founded after the end of the Cold War in 1993, the Secretariat is in The Hague. He works with the Euro Europe, the European Union, the OSCE, UNESCO and with national and regional governments, and others on historical education aligned toward associations, as with the Anne Frank Foundation in the Netherlands, the Körber Foundation and the Georg Eckert Institute. Funding is provided through project funds for these purposes. The Annual Congress 2012 was held in Antalya / Turkey, 2013 in Erfurt.
