European College of Sport Science

The European College of Sport Science ( ECSS ) is a sports science organizations in the form of a registered, non-profit organization. The office was founded in 1995 in Nice club is affiliated with the German Sports University in Cologne.

Tasks

Statutory purpose is the promotion of science and research - carried by the motto: Share your knowledge. This purpose is in particular through the creation and dissemination of scientific knowledge in terms of motivation, attitude, values, adaptation processes, performance and health of people who are active in sports or are interested in sports can be realized. Under sport here refers to all forms of targeted human movement that are aimed at maintaining or improving the health, physical performance or of individual and social well-being.

The ECSS advises national and European institutions, such as the European Union and the Euro Europe in light of the current research needs and new research in sports science as well as with regard to issues of Sports Science or related disciplines. In addition, the ECSS organized a congress every year.

Young Investigator Award

The ECSS sees a special role in the promotion of young scientists. An integral part of the annual ECSS congresses is the Young Investigators Award. Prize money will be awarded to 20 young sports scientist / inside ( below 32 years) who can convince scientifically at the Congress by oral presentation or a poster presentation. Scientific, relevance and applicability are the main criteria.

European Journal of Sport Science

The European Journal of Sport Science ( EJSS ) is listed for the sport scientific journal of the ECSS and PubMed. The articles refer to biological, behavioral and social science aspects related to sport and physical activity. The EJSS published in six issues per year.

Position statements

Another project of the ECSS is the creation of so-called position papers. This work can be used by national and international organizations to design unified and overarching guidelines. This should help to put the positive effects of sport and exercise on the political agenda.
