European Cooperation for Space Standardization
The European Cooperation for Space Standardization ( ECSS, German " European Cooperation for Space Standardization " ) is an initiative founded in 1993, ESA, national space agencies and the aerospace industry for the development of uniform standards for the European space. The issued by the ECSS Standards deal with the issues of project management ( with the various phases of the project ), product assurance, space technology and sustainability for space projects. By standardizing inter alia, the competitiveness of the European space industry is to be ensured. The standards are used directly as a basis in contracts.
The following space agencies include the ECSS to:
- Agenzia Spaziale Italiana (ASI )
- Centre national d' études spatiales ( CNES )
- German Aerospace Center (DLR )
- European Space Agency ( ESA)
- Netherlands Space Office ( NSO )
- Norwegian Space Centre ( NSC)
- UK Space Agency ( UKSA )
The working in the field of space private companies are represented by the association Euro Space.
Publications
The standards of ECSS gradually replace the data released by the ESA Procedures, Standards and Specifications ( ESA PSS).
