European Cultural Foundation

The European Cultural Foundation ( European Cultural Foundation, abbreviated ECF ) is an independent foundation based in Amsterdam. For nearly 60 years, she promotes the pan-European region arts and culture. Your task is especially to support cultural expressions which have the aim to create a common future for Europe. ECFs major focus is currently the subject of " Narratives for Europe", in which perspectives on the Europe of today and tomorrow are developed.

Organization

The Foundation is currently headed by Katherine Watson (Director ). President Princess Laurentien of the Netherlands is, daughter of Princess Beatrix.

Founded as the foundation in 1954 in Geneva by the Swiss philosopher Denis de Rougemont. Robert Schuman, one of the main architects of the European Economic Union, was its first president.

The Foundation has comprehensive European program work on their behalf are ( eg, plane Europe 2000 ) and appeared as the executive body for the educational programs of the European Commission: Erasmus ( 1987-1995 ), Eurydice ( 1980-2001 ) and Tempus (1992-1993). Furthermore, they developed many project initiatives such as the East - West Parliamentary Practice Project and Art for Social Change (in collaboration with the Open Society Foundations ).

Activities

The ECF is registered as a charity and receives a majority of its resources by two Dutch lotteries, BankGiro Lottery and De Lotto, which has in turn owes its partner organization, the Prince Bernhard Cultural Foundation, which occurs as a distribution of the funds.

The Foundation's work includes the distribution of funds and the organization of content programs: the Youth and Media program and the European- Neighbourhood program.

Even in the online arena, the Foundation is very active. Your various portals enable information exchange and collaboration within the cultural sector.
