European Radio for Belarus

Eurapejskaje Radyjo dlya Belarusi (ERB; German: European Radio for Belarus ) is a radio station in the Belarusian language, based in Warsaw. ERB was established in 2005.

Program

Similar to other international broadcasters (eg Belaruskaje Radyjo Razyja, Radyjo Svaboda or Belsat ) ERB should give the listeners in Belarus the opportunity to receive current, objective information about events in Belarus and the world. ERB should so be an alternative to state-controlled media in Belarus.

The program of ERB is designed by journalists in Warsaw and Minsk, as well as other areas of Belarus. Head of the Editorial Office Warsaw. The staff of ERB in Belarus are exposed in their work repression of the state organs. Thus, numerous employees of foreign media were arrested about in spring 2008.

The show AKNO u Europu ( German: Window to Europe ) is funded by the European Commission.

Reception

The programs are broadcast on VHF on the frequencies of the Polish radio station Radio dla Ciebie, the Ukrainian station Melodiya, and the Lithuanian Polish-language station Radio Znad Wilii. Terrestrial is ERB as to receive in the Belarusian Breszkaja Woblasz and adjacent areas a day to two hours. All day sends ERB on 68.24 MHz from Visaginas (Lithuania ), via satellite ( Hot Bird 6) and the Internet.
