European Satellite Navigation Industries

The company 's European Satellite Navigation Industries ( short ESN Industries, ESNIS or ESNI ) was a joint venture of the satellite construction companies Alcatel Alenia Space SAS (France), Alcatel Alenia Space SpA (Italy ) (19 percent), EADS Astrium GmbH ( Germany ) ( 38 percent), EADS Astrium Ltd. (England), Galileo Sistemas y Servicios ( consortium of seven Spanish companies ) and Thales (France). The name Galileo Industries ( GaIn ) there were in December 2006 as the British computer company for travel reservation system Galileo International Technology claimed older naming rights for themselves.

ESNI should build as the main contractor, the navigation system Galileo. The parties had committed themselves not to deliver competitive quotes for Galileo outside the company.

The company is headquartered in Ottobrunn near Munich and a representative office in Rome. It employs around 80 people in mid-2007, one part being directly employed in the Konsortialfirmen.

Since 2008, the company's future is uncertain after the European Commission adopted the financing of Galileo and ESA has entrusted with the implementation.
