The European Youth Forum ( YFJ, the French Youth Forum Jeunesse, English: the European Youth Forum ) is the platform of national youth councils and international youth NGO organizations in Europe. The objectives and tasks of the European Youth Forum is representative working on behalf of all young people in Europe. It is officially recognized by the European Union, the Euro Europe and the United Nations

The European Youth Forum works mainly in the field of European youth policy, but also dealt with global issues and is also linked outside Europe. The work is based on the member organizations and their viewpoints and is not restricted to individual policy, as the theme of youth is seen as a cross- cutting issue. The themes of equality and sustainability are essential part of the YFJ policy.

Currently there is the European Youth Forum from a total of 99 member organizations from 40 national special interest groups, and 49 independent international youth organizations.

For Germany, the German National Committee for International Youth Work (DNK ), for Austria the Austrian Children's and Youth Council ( ÖJV ) and for Switzerland, the Swiss Federation of Youth Associations ( SAJV ) is represented as a national interest representation at the European Youth Forum.

History

The YFJ was founded in 1996 and is the successor organization of several European youth organizations like the Youth Forum of the European Union ( YFEU ) that go back in some cases until the 1960s.

The funding comes from the European Commission and the Euro Europe.

Task and work

The board is elected by the General Assembly every two years and consists of:

  • President
  • Two Vice-Presidents (one person of a national youth representative and a person of an international youth organization )
  • 8 Board Members ( 4 persons of a national youth advocacy and 4 persons an international youth organization )
