EUROVAPOR

The EUROVAPOR ( European Association for the operational maintenance of steam locomotives and historic railway equipment, ) is a European association of railway enthusiasts for the conservation of the historic steam locomotives and railroad cars.

History

The establishment of the EUROVAPOR found on 17 November 1962 at the Hotel Victoria, Basel. The Association headquarters are located in Zurich. The club goal is not only to preserve historic steam locomotives and rolling stock museum, but work up the vehicles and to operate as a living testimony to a bygone era technology again. The EUROVAPOR is active mainly in Switzerland and southern Germany. The members are organized and maintained in the sections and operate volunteer 15 steam locomotives and the associated car.

In May 1968, the first steam locomotive of the SWEG was acquired along with three cars with the T 3 No. 30. She is since 1970 worked operative especially on the Kandertalbahn used. In 1973 was the EUROVAPOR offer steam operating on five routes: In addition to the Kandertalbahn were the Solothurn- Zollikofen -Bern railway ( SZB), the United Bern -Worb trains (VBW ), the Waldenburgerbahn (WB) and the route Metzingen, Bad Urach. From 1974 to July 1980 was responsible EUROVAPOR the steam trains on the Bregenzerwaldbahn in Vorarlberg.

The number of vehicles amounted in 1987 to 15 steam locomotives, a diesel railcar, a railway crane and 60 cars.

In order to distribute the responsibilities better and gain profit in the country more easily, several sections were made ​​legally independent. Such indirect sections consisted Wutachtal ( WTB eV ), in the Kander ( Kandertalbahn eV ) and in the Emmental (Association Historic Railroad Emmental ). These indirect sections, however, were more connected to the EUROVAPOR.

Since October 2010, the Association consists only of the former direct Sulgen section. The other sections were dismissed at this time from the EUROVAPOR and have since independently.
