Eustace Chapuys

Eustace Chapuys (* 1489 in Annecy, † 1556 in Leuven ) was ambassador of Mary of Hungary with Henry VIII of England.

Life

From 1507 to 1515 he studied at the University of Turin. In 1517 he became an officer of the diocese of Geneva and later served Charles III. of Savoy and Charles III. de Bourbon- Montpensier. In 1527 he entered the service of Charles V. According to an embassy mission to the court of Savoy, he was in September 1529 Ambassador to the Court of St James's.

Chapuys fought for the marriage contract of Catherine of Aragon, who died in January 1536. In March 1539 had Paul III.
