Eva Bonnier

Eva Frederika Bonnier ( born November 17 1857 in Stockholm; † January 13, 1909 in Copenhagen) was a Swedish painter, sculptor and patron.

Life

She was the daughter of the publisher Albert Bonnier and his wife Betty (nee Rubenson ). Hanna Pauli, a friend since childhood, was the daughter of the brother of her aunt Sophie, wife of Adolf Bonnier. She learned later also Paul, in August Malmström and studied from 1878 at the Art Academy, Stockholm. After she had this finished in the spring of 1883, she went first to Switzerland, then to Paris. Work

Bonnier's work includes mainly paintings in which she portrayed acquaintances, such as their housekeeper Maria Banck in the Hushållerskan 1890 incurred. Furthermore, she made sculptures and a few handcrafted items. Bonnier images can be found for example in the Swedish National Museum and porträttsamling in Bonnierska, which was founded by her brother Karl Otto Bonnier.
