Eva Crane

Eva Crane ( born June 12, 1912 in London, † September 6, 2007 in Slough, born Ethel Eva Widdowson ) was an English scholar and author of numerous publications on international beekeeping and history of beekeeping.

Life

Eva Crane was born Ethel Eva Widdowson in London. She studied nuclear physics and earned a doctorate in 1941. At the University of Sheffield, she taught physics. In 1942 she married the stockbroker James Crane, who performed his military service in the Royal Navy at the time. Eva Cranes interest for beekeeping was awakened by a beehive, the couple received as a wedding gift.
